Patch Blog: DIY at Home Facial!

Keep Your Skin Glowing this Holiday with an in Home Facial in 4 Easy Steps!

The busy holiday season finds most of us in a rush.  Parties, shopping, baking,  dinner and lunch dates with those we see once a year can all lead to a lack of sleep and sluggish looking skin.  No time for a trip to your favorite facialist to make sure you’re looking your best?  Well, have no fear, a facial pick-me-up can be done right in the privacy of your own bathroom.

Convenient parking, very reasonable price, no tip required and no appointment necessary!

Here are a few tips for making sure your skin is glowing this holiday season:

STEP 1:  Give your skin a power wash.  My favorite go-to products for squeaky clean skin- Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel paired with a Skin Chamois will rid your skin of all dirt and makeup.

STEP 2: Exfoliate! If you know Ms Beauty Buzz well, then you know that my favorite scrub lies in the cupboards of your kitchen- SUGAR!  Grab a spoonful of sugar and mix it with a couple drops of warm water in the palm of your hand to create a nice paste.  Gently work it over your skin in circular upward motions for a minute.  Then rinse with lukewarm water.  If your skin is seriously dry, mix the sugar with a couple drops of Olive Oil instead.

STEP 3: Apply a Mask!  This is my VERY favorite at home mask recipe for skin-

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons cooked or canned pumpkin puree
  • one-half teaspoon honey (humectant, regenerative)
  • one-quarter  teaspoon milk (alpha hydroxy acid, enzymes digest skin cells)

NOTE:  For Dry skin- Add one-quarter teaspoon Heavy Cream (great moisturizing capabilities) For Oily skin- Add one-quarter teaspoon Apple Cider (alpha hydroxy acid- regulates ph)

STEP 4: End all of your at home facials with a heavy dose of RICH CREAM.  You need to lock in the moisture to combat the dryness of overheated homes and buildings and exposure to the tough winter air.  My favorite thick rich cream is PepToxyl Wrinkle Relaxing Creme.  A combination of peptides that work to increase collagen and elastin production while delivering a heavy dose of moisture.  And it’s paraben free so you can feel good while using it!
