The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens has announced that George Abdo, their Vice President for Advancement, will retire from that position as of August 31, 2011. He led the most effective fundraising efforts in the history of the organization.
Abdo joined The Huntington in the summer of 2002, becoming a member of the senior staff. He is credited for making significant changes in the institution's approach to fundraising that enabled it to greatly increase its endowment and to make major improvements to the grounds and the collections.
