Gas Prices Continue to Fall

Prices across the Southland have steadily fallen for weeks, said AAA.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County declined Friday for the 15th time in 16 days, dropping nine-tenths of a cent to $4.305.

The average price is 4.8 cents less than a week ago and 7.2 cents lower than one month ago but 20.1 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price decreased 8.1 cents over the past 16 days, including 1 cent on Thursday.

The Orange County average price fell Friday for the 17th time in 18 days, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.284, 4.7 cents less than a week ago and 7.7 cents lower than one month ago but 18.9 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has decreased 8.7 cents over the past 18 days, including seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

"Given the big wholesale fuel price declines in California, it's unclear why we aren't seeing more significant price drops at the pump,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
