Southland Gas Prices Drop Once More

Friday's decline in gas prices is the 22nd in the past 23 days. Where do you go to fill up your car?

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline fell in Los Angeles County on Friday for the 18th consecutive day, dropping 1 cent to $4.258, its lowest amount since Feb. 24.

"A little more price competition appears to be happening among gas stations, which is good news for drivers," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. "Drivers can help encourage further price reductions by shopping around for the best prices, as long as they're not driving far out of their way."

The average price is 4.7 cents less than a week ago and 13.8 cents lower than one month ago but 6.5 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from AAA and Oil Price Information Service. Friday's decline was the 22nd in the past 23 days.
