Patch Picks: Destination Staycations

This week, Patch takes you on a quick tour of five Southern California getaways, all within easy driving distance of San Marino.

Need a break, but can’t afford to take a lot of time off of work? Or maybe you just aren’t in the mood to deal with the travails of travel these days—flight delays, baggage check fees, security lines (just writing the words is enough to make me shudder).

Well, one of the great things about Southern California is that you don’t actually have to travel far to feel like you’ve escaped the daily routine. San Marino in particular enjoys all the benefits of being right in the middle of the Golden State’s finest attractions, from the mountains to the sea and all kinds of fun in between.

Whether you’re in the mood for a little excitement or longing for a quiet weekend, you’ll find what you need within a couple hours’ drive (which is especially nice, given the steadily rising fuel prices). Check out our list of five awesome “staycations” and get ready to get away, right in your own backyard.
