Patch Picks: Romantic Valentine's Day Restaurants

In which your (single) columnist suggests five fabulous restaurants where you can savor love on the most romantic day of the year.

The irony of being asked to highlight five romantic restaurants for Valentine’s Day when my own chances of going out that night with a special someone are pretty much nil has not, I’m sorry to say, escaped my notice. However, being the professional journalist that I am, I have dutifully put together a list of sumptuous restaurants in the area that I’m confident your date will love—mostly because I know I would.

I’ll even throw in a Valentine’s Day dining hint: Many restaurants have a special three- or four-course prix fixe Valentine’s Day menu that allows you to select from a few options for a starter or two, an entrée and a dessert; some places may also include a glass of champagne or give you the choice to add a wine pairing for an extra charge. The prix fixe is a great idea if you want to plan ahead for your budget. Plus, it’ll save you from wasting time on menu contemplation that would be better spent gazing into your beloved’s eyes.

No matter what—or where—you decide to eat, just make sure you call ahead for reservations, or you might find yourself getting the death-ray glare while “enjoying” a couple of Big Macs.
