Ramadan Recipes: Almond Sherbet, Turkish Pizza, Homemade Hummus and More

It's the first day of Ramadan, a holy month on the Muslim calendar. This month is comprised of fasting during the day and feasting at nightfall.

This month is Ramadan, a month celebrated by Muslims the world over. In the year 610, it was in this ninth month on the Islamic calendar that Muslims believe Muhammad experienced his first divine revelation from God that led to the Qur'an.

In recognition of this holy month, Muslims fast during daylight hours, followed by feasting at night. In addition to fasting, Muslims traditionally read the Qur'an and devote themselves to prayer during this time.
