Three Injured In Crash on Angeles Crest

A family was taking a ride on the mountain road when their vehicle went over.

A family of three escaped serious injuries after their vehicle went over Angeles Crest Highway, Sunday afternoon.

Two children and their mother were inside the Toyota 4Runner when it went over about 25 feet near Newcomb's Ranch at mile marker 49.7. The mother received minor injuries to her hand and all were able to reach the road before authorities arrived, according to scanner reports.

Deputies learned of the crash around 5:15 p.m. After the family made it to the road, California Highway Patrol officers escorted the mother and her children down the mountain, said Sergeant Paul Gallo of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.

Conditions on the road necessitated the removal of the 4Runner for Monday, Gallo said.

"There are a lot of area's that are pretty clear, then there were patches of fog and then ice and snow. It varied all the way up there. It's very treacherous conditions," Gallo said.
