San Marino, CA, August 15, 2011— Love anime? Can’t get enough? We understand! That’s why Crowell Public Library invites Young Adults grades 6-12 to join its Teen Anime Club, which screens episodes from popular anime series as well as feature length films—on the big screen! Japanese snacks and popcorn are served at all anime club meetings.
We’ll open the fall season with the supernatural comedy/romance Fruits Basket on September 20th, followed by the hilarious anime One Piece based on the award-winning manga on October 4th. Later this fall, on November 8th, we’ll screen the high-octane steampunk anime Last Exile and Chobits, the anime based on CLAMP’s sci-fi romance. We meet monthly on Tuesdays at 3:15 pm in the Barth Community Room. Meetings this fall are: September 20th, October 4th, November 8th and December 6th.
Anime Club is intended for young adults in grades 6-12. Parents may accompany their teens, but younger siblings may not attend since some of the films are rated PG-13 or TV-14. For the member’s only screening, only members may participate. Membership is simple—pick up an application at the library or print it out online and return to a librarian. Call the library for details on how to satisfy your teen’s appetite for anime, or e-mail Carrie Wilson at cwilson@cityofsanmarino.org, or visit the YA Facebook page at: Tinyurl.com/YAFacebook-CPL.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Crowell Public Library and Funimation’s Operation Anime!
