Christmas Around the Drive Rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 9

After being postponed from its original date of Dec. 2 due to windstorm damage and power outages, Christmas Around the Drive is now back on for Dec. 9 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. so residents can support local businesses and celebrate the season.

was , but the San Marino Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday night it will now take place this Friday, Dec. 9 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

At this annual event, residents visit local shopkeepers, partake of festive treats, enjoy carolers and stroll the drive as San Marino welcomes the holiday season. Santa arrives on the Old #1 fire engine at 6 p.m. at the . The event is free for everyone.

The Chamber encourages residents to come out and support local businesses, especially since many were financially harmed in the wake of the recent windstorms, due to that kept stores closed for days.

At least 20 businesses are confirmed to participate, including San Marino Patch.

Jocelyn Hanson, owner of --offering free cookie decorating at Christmas Around the Drive--is just one of many businesses that suffered recently since power outages meant she had to throw away many perishable food items that didn't have refrigeration.

"It's been tough on all the small businesses," said Hanson. "It would be great if the community could come out and support us."
