Clark Rockefeller Friend Writes Account of San Marino Resident and Convicted Murderer

Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter – a.k.a. Clark Rockefeller - who was convicted of killing his landlord's son and burying his body in the backyard of a San Marino home.

The New Yorker magazine is running the story of a novelist who became friend to a man who called himself Clark Rockefeller - Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, who was convicted earlier this year of a 1985 San Marino murder.

Kirn, writing for the New Yorker describes how he met Gerhartsreiter as a volunteer for a dog shelter that was placing an animal in Gerhartsreiter's home (the piece requires a New Yorker subscription).

Gerhartsreiter, who passed himself off as a member of the wealthy Rockefeller family, was convicted in March of the 1985 murder of San Marino resident John Sohus.

He could face up to 27 years to life in prison.  His returns to court for sentencing on June 26.
