Dinner and a Movie

Whether you like cheap seats, fancy recliners or a car and a speaker, choices for seeing a movie in Southern California are endless.

By Friday night most parents are dog tired but would still appreciate a night out. That’s why a night at the movies is the perfect escape—you won't have to expend too much energy and it’s fun. And here in Southern California there is no shortage of options for how and where you see a movie.

Being that this is the land where movies are made you’ll always have the latest releases to choose from and more than enough theaters to see them at.

For the royal treatment, make a reservation at Gold Class Cinemas in Pasadena.    It’s a bar, restaurant and theater all rolled into one. Think the comfort of home with a movie screen, a bartender, a chef and waiters serving you gourmet fare while you lounge in a reclining seat.

At the ArcLight Cinemas at Paseo Colorado you can reserve your seats ahead of time and hang out at the bar before a movie. The Laemmle Playhouse in Pasadena specializes in smaller, independent films and has first run shows for bargain prices. And The AMC Theaters at the Santa Anita Mall and the Edwards Alhambra Renaissance Stadium have more movies and show times than you could possibly need.

For the more adventurous, don’t forget about the old school drive-in theater. Yes, they are still around.  The Vineland Drive-In in the City of Industry is still going strong and still has the latest releases.

Whether you choose a fancy sit-down dinner, a bargain matinee or a drive-in theater, the movies are still the perfect escape.
