The Huntington Library has opened a planned exhibit on Americad needlework, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

The paper's review on the exhibit, features "more than 25 examples of this art form and provides insight into the lives and values of the American women who created them," according to the paper.  The review can be found here.

The Huntington announced the display in February.  It includes 29 pieces from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The work includes examples of "coats of arms, pictorial samplers, mourning pictures and memorials, family trees, pockets and pocket books, marking samplers (showing the basic stitches for practical domestic needs), and the relationship between needlework teachers and students."

More on the exhibit can be found on the Huntington's website.  The exhibit runs through September 2.
