Photo Gallery: Chamber of Commerce Celebrates New Home

Members of the San Marino Chamber of Commerce and community gathered for a monthly mixer that included a celebration of the Chamber's new office.

Champagne flowed and people mingled at the San Marino Chamber of Commerce mixer and celebration at the San Marino City Center Jan 20.

The Chamber celebrated at the center's fireside room, adjacent to the new Chamber office, which became necessary after rent in the previous office space increased over 400 percent in three years.

Mayor Dennis Kneier announced that donations were being taken to pay for new carpeting in the new office since the current, aging carpeting is "unacceptable", he joked.

Within minutes, attendees donated cash and checks that exceeded the $600 goal.

"That's the before picture," said San Marino Chamber of Commerce President Sandra Troup of the old office carpet.

A ribbon-cutting was supposed to take place outside but Troup said it ended up being too dark. Nevertheless, attendees enjoyed themselves.

The next Chamber mixer will take place on Feb. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Alex & Friends Salon at 902 Boston Court in Pasadena.
