About the Westridge Summer Opportunities Fair

The Summer Opportunities Fair (SOF) is a community service event that provides a venue for parents and children to learn about summer programs. The fair presents a wide range of local, national, international camp, and summer study opportunities for boys and girls of all ages in academic and cultural enrichment, outdoor adventure, sports, travel, day and board, community service and volunteer programs, and programs for children with special needs.

The fair, held on the Westridge campus in Pasadena, California, has earned the reputation as one of the premier camp fairs in the nation. A nationally recognized community service event, the fair attracts thousands of families each year.

First offered to the community in 1991, the fair draws visitors from Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley, the Greater Los Angeles area, and the San Fernando Valley. This informative community service event is free to the public and offers something for every student and every family budget.

Special Needs Opportunities

A unique feature of the Summer Opportunities Fair is the in-depth attention to Special Needs programs. The Special Needs booth, situated prominently at the fair, offers many resources to parents who seek to enrich the lives of their children.

Specialists and others who work with special needs children and their families are available to speak with parents at the fair.

The Summer Opportunities Fair catalog contains an extensive Special Needs section. Developed, researched, and updated annually, this section is a collaboration among parent volunteers, Westridge students, and faculty. The catalog provides comprehensive information on agencies and programs designed to assist special needs children and their families.

Skills Enrichment Program (SEP)

A significant portion of the proceeds from the fair helps to support the Skills Enrichment Program (SEP). SEP is an annual program supported by four local, independent schools and the Pasadena Unified School District. This program is offered to Pasadena public school students who demonstrate academic potential and leadership qualities, but who have limited access to resources that would enhance their traditional learning experience.

The camps and programs represented at the fair are independent organizations that are not affiliated with Westridge School. No endorsement by Westridge School concerning exhibitor offerings is expressed or implied.
