Winter Solstice or Yalda Celebration

2nd Annual Yalda or Winter Solstice Celebration

YALDA PROGRAM IN CONJUCTION WITH SHADOWS, AN ART EXHIBIT

Join Our Parenting Place and the USC IGM Art Gallery on Friday, December 21st from 7 pm - 9 pm to celebrate our 2nd Annual Yalda or Yule Event also referred to as the Winter Solstice.  Yalda is a celebration of the longest night of the year and a turning point for the longer days to follow.  Yalda has been celebrated by the Persian people for thousands of years, dating back to the age of Mithraism, it symbolizes the “triumph of the Sun God over the power of darkness”.

Our Parenting Place is an educational program with arms that stretch to the child, family and teachers.  We offer parenting classes to support the conscious parent who strives for balance and gaining confidence.  The roots of the founders of the program are another facet of the diversity and rich cultures they both represent, that of their Persian and Russian heritage blended with American culture.  Through celebrating and honoring our rich cultures traditions and customs, we connect with our history, forge new relationships and bond with our destiny.
