Blog: Fashion Update!

Where the fashion world and San Marino meet!

Since I last blogged on Patch for San Marino, I was busy running around downtown LA, hunting down fabrics, filming a TV series about my life as a young fashion designer, and busy planning the next big fashion week runway show for my collection. After 6 years of designing NON STOP I finally decided to take a little break and have some fun. By fun- I mean styling photo shoots for magazines, and dressing more starlets for the red carpet. For the past year I have been working on styling so many fun projects, it feels amazing to be part of a team and shifting my focus to something new and fresh, but still in my crazy world of fashion that I love so much. This is not to say I don't still design a one of a kind occasionally or make something for a specific client, but I'm currently not pumping out collection after collection. It's been an awesome journey styling this year, part of styling is searching for amazing designers to include in editorials. A stylist always works with the best up and coming talent. I ended up finding a designer who is just launching her new clothing label this year called De La Hooke, she graduated from San Marino in 2006. It was such an exciting feeling to see a former SM classmate step into this wonderful world of fashion, I looked at photos of her flirty fun dresses and fell in love! I immediately E-mailed her about an upcoming magazine shoot I was styling that would be a great fit for us to collaborate on. I stopped by her adorable workspace filled with photos and sequin fabrics to pick up samples of her new collection. I used all of the garments she gave me to style the cover of Nationalist magazine, the October issue will feature actress Erin Sanders all dolled up in original Nikki Delahooke creations! Nationalist magazine is such an awesome publication, they promote all products that are made int he USA. With the not so booming economy, it is great to find and support local businesses and products such as De La Hooke that are made in America. Be sure to check out the launch of her website this month!
