Man Charged With San Marino Rape Also Allegedly Scammed Victim

The Pasadena man charged with rape and hiring a hitman to kill a San Marino woman, knew the alleged victim well and also allegedly scammed her out of money, a San Marino Detective told Patch.

While he also allegedly defrauded the victim of funds, San Marino Detective Henry Todd told Patch Tuesday.

Harrington, 43, has pleaded not guilty of the 12 counts.

He has not yet been charged for the alleged financial crime, said Todd, since a charge such as rape carries more urgency.

The and Todd further elaborated Tuesday, telling Patch the two had a 10-year acquaintanceship and were sporadically romantically involved for about three and a half years during that time. When the October rape allegedly occurred, Harrington and the victim had been out of touch for a few months, Todd said.

Anthony Brooklier, Harrington’s attorney, said he expected the preliminary hearing to take place within 10 court days of Feb. 1.
