Man Charged With Rape, Attempted Murder of San Marino Woman

Brian Harrington of Pasadena is accused of rape, assault, first-degree burglary and attempted murder for hire of a San Marino woman.

Police departments from San Marino, Pasadena and Alhambra are currently investigating several criminal offenses allegedly committed against a woman who lives in San Marino.

Brian Harrington, 43, of Pasadena is charged with various crimes, including forcible rape of the San Marino woman on Oct. 5, according to a felony complaint submitted by San Marino Detective Henry Todd that was executed in Alhambra Tuesday.

The alleged rape occurred at a residence south of Huntington Drive between Del Mar Avenue and San Gabriel Boulevard at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 5, San Marino Police Department Records Supervisor Angie Gonzalez told Patch Tuesday.

The felony complaint for Harrington lists 12 counts in all, including first-degree burglary, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and criminal threats on Oct. 4.

Harrington is also accused of hiring a man named Larry Montez to murder the San Marino woman between Nov. 16 and Nov. 30, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Harrington was not the spouse of the alleged victim, but Gonzalez told Patch that “they were in a dating relationship.” Harrington was booked at Alhambra Jail on Oct. 10.

Harrington pleaded not guilty at a Nov. 9 arraignment and is due at the Alhambra Courthouse Jan. 3 for a preliminary hearing setting, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office told Patch Tuesday.

If convicted of the crime of solicitation of murder, Harrington could face 25 years to life in state prison. He is currently being held at Los Angeles County Jail on $1.2 million bail.
