A woman was rescued out of a second floor window by firefighters Tuesday in a blaze that caused $80,000 in damage, a county fire official said.

The fire broke out shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of East Altadena Drive, according to Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Brian Riley. WHen firefighters arrived on scene they saw a woman trapped in the structure on the second floor.

"Their life was saved," a county fire spokesman said. "We put a ladder to reach her and brought her down to safety."

Something as innocuous as a hot plate, causing that kind of damage! Devastating. I hope her family and neighbors are helping her out. She must feel lost right now.
