Edison Offers No Timeline to Restore Power

About 135,000 Southern California Edison customers are still without power Friday afternoon throughout the foothills and San Gabriel Valley.

About 135,000 customers are still without power Friday, mostly in the foothill and San Gabriel Valley communities. Edison has no estimated time for power restoration.

Southern California Edison offers no timeline for when power will be restored throughout the foothills and San Gabriel Valley, Vanessa McGrady of Southern California Edison told Patch.

“We are asking people to please be patient,” McGrady said. “We don’t know what the restoration time is but people can make sure they have supplies and prepare for an extended outage.”

Multiple circuits are damaged throughout the region, she said. “We don’t have any estimates yet so we’re trying to work on those.”

Crews can restore one circuit in the area – which could explain why your neighbor across the street has power - but not everybody will have power restored, McGrady said.

“Part of the issue is that so many trees are down that crews are having a time getting through and accessing equipment,” she said.  “Crews are going as fast as they can.”

“The big safety message to get across to people are never to touch a down power line, call 911 if you see that,” McGrady said. “Sometimes the winds can knock those loose. They can come down with poles. Even if you think it’s not energized don’t touch it.”

McGrady urges locals to follow Edison for updates on Twitter @socaledison.
