New Year’s Gunfire: 93 Incidents of Discharging Firearms Reported

One woman was injured in Los Angeles County as a result of gunfire that rang in the new year. Did you hear any gunshots in your neighborhood?

Despite local law enforcement warnings against celebratory New Year’s Eve gunfire that can lead to injury and death, several instances were reported in Los Angeles County in an eight-hour period and one woman was injured.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that 93 incidents of discharging firearms were reported from Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. to Jan. 1 at 4 a.m.

Of the reported incidents, a 74-year-old woman from Gardena was slightly injured when a bullet broke through her den window and struck her left foot around midnight on Tuesday. A bullet fragment did not penetrate her skin and was found in her den.

Did you hear any gunshots on New Year’s Day around midnight in your neighbrohood? What do you think of the number of gunfire incidents reported this New Year’s?

My next door neighbor fired off his gun twice and I live on the same block that shootings occurred on, the 600 block of Ventura Street

Found a fire cracker, complete with the long stick in my backyard. Was not happy. Really over the irresponsible people in my neighborhood. It could have started a fire.
