Thefts, attempted break-ins and burglaries occur every week in San Marino, but police are trying to focus on narrowing down exactly when reported burglaries took place so they can look at trends.

When an alarm is set off during a break-in or burglary, that alarm will indicate what time the incident happened, but when a resident does not have an active alarm, all police have to go on is a large window of time that a resident may not have been home.

“Often an alarm is not on or there is no alarm,” San Marino Police Department Sergeant Aaron Blonde said regarding residential burglaries.
