San Marino Man Robbed on Street

A San Marino man was attacked and his cell phone taken as he walked in Pasadena Tuesday night.

A 22-year-old man from San Marino was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone in Pasadena around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday night, Pasadena Star-News reported Wednesday morning.

The robbery took place on Marion Avenue and Walnut Street.

The suspects first drove past the San Marino man, Pasadena Lt. Pete Hettema told the Star-News, then later one suspect came running from behind and put an arm around the victim's neck and grabbed the phone and fled.

Pasadena Deputy Chief Darryl Qualls told Patch Wednesday the attacker fled in a dark-colored, four-door sedan driven by another man. Both suspects are still at large.

The attacker was described as a 5' 11", 205-pound black man in his 40s, wearing dark pants, light-colored gloves and a light-colored beanie cap, said Qualls. A description of his shirt was unavailable.
