A fire in Alhambra destroyed two detached garages, one of which had been converted into living quarters, drawing firefighters from five cities and causing an estimated $100,000 in damage, authorities said Thursday.
The fire on the 900 block of North Electric Avenue in Alhambra was reported around 10:45 a.m. Thursday and took about an hour to extinguish, said Capt. Paul Riddle of the South Pasadena Fire Department.
The blaze was fought by 45 firefighters from Alhambra, San Marino, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Pasadena, he said.
Riddle said the garages were destroyed, but the houses to which they belonged sustained only minor damage.
