SMPD Blotter: Fake Reporting of Shooting and Hostages, More Crime

The following crime and arrest information was supplied by the San Marino Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following recent San Marino crimes include burglary, a hit and run and more.

Fake report of shooting, hostage situation.

July 19
1200 block of Lorain Road
10:09 a.m.           
A report was taken for False Reporting of a Crime when an unknown man called the station and reported he had shot his mother and father and was holding hostages inside a location in the 1200 block of Lorain Road. The man demanded money or else he would harm additional hostages. Officers responded from SMPD along with officers from South Pasadena, Alhambra and San Gabriel Police Departments. A containment was set up and the mother was contacted via telephone and the call was determined to be a “fake”. No one was injured. The investigation is continuing with detectives.

Burglary

July 23
2200 block of Los Robles Avenue
3:37 p.m.           
A burglary report was taken after it was reported that a strange vehicle was in the driveway of a vacant house. The vehicle had been stolen in Alhambra and the license plates were also stolen in the County.

 

Death

July 20
2200 block of El Molino Place
7:25 a.m.
A death report was taken.

 

Vandalism

July 22
Huntington Drive and Oak Knoll Avenue
4:06 p.m.           
A vandalism report was taken for graffiti.

July 20
1800 block of Huntington Drive
11:31 a.m.           
A vandalism report was taken for graffiti.

 

Hit and Run

July 21
2400 block of Cumberland Road
3:48 p.m.           
A report was taken for a hit and run traffic collision.

 

DUI

July 24
Atlantic Boulevard and Garfield Avenue
2:02 a.m.
A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a man for driving under the influence.

July 25
LaCala Place and Wilson Avenue
12:18 a.m.           
A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a man for driving under the influence.

July 23
Allen Avenue and Lombardy Road
3:21 a.m.           
Officers checking on a suspicious occupied vehicle arrested a man for driving under the influence.

July 22
Huntington Drive and Los Robles Avenue
2:17 a.m.           
A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a man for driving under the influence.

July 22
Atlantic Boulevard and Garfield Avenue
3:38 a.m.           
A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a male for driving under the influence.
