Sobriety Checkpoints Friday

Arcadia police officers will hold sobriety checkpoints at various locations throughout the city this weekend.

The Arcadia Police Department will have sobriety and driver's license checkpoints throughout the city Friday.

Statistics show drunken driving causes more deaths and injuries than hand guns and knives combined, police say.

So don't become a statistic.

If you find yourself in need of a safe ride home, call Jan's Towing. If you live within 7 miles of the company's service area, a driver will tow you and your car home for free.

Call (626) 334-1383 for more information.

if you haven't been drinking, it'll be a quick inconvenience

Well, the only time I consume any alcohol at all is in my (rather delicious, if I do say so myself) chicken piccata. :o)

Craig Even if you don't display any symptoms of intoxication they will not let you go right away when you don't answer their questions, even though their is never a requirement to answer questions presented by the police. "Probable cause" is a standard by which our government is permitted to interfere with anyone's Liberty. To overcome this standard to combat drunk driving through checkpoints the courts have shaped an exception to the 4th amendment by allowing mass detentions to "educate and deter" not apprehend (ancillary). The checkpoints function is an administrative action for that purpose. Suspicion-less "seizures" by the police at checkpoints are only successful by your consent.
