At 11:19 p.m. Saturday the Alhambra Police Department received a robbery alarm from a 7-Eleven at 1111 N. Garfield Ave., said Alhambra police Sgt. Jerry Johnson.

A witness who reportedly saw a man rob a convenience store in Alhambra tailed the suspect to San Marino High School, where he was eventually arrested by officers, a police sergeant said today.

At 11:19 p.m. Saturday the Alhambra Police Department received a robbery alarm from a 7-Eleven at 1111 N. Garfield Ave., said Alhambra police Sgt. Jerry Johnson.

A few moments later, a witness called Alhambra police and said he had seen the robbery take place and was following the suspect as he drove eastbound on Huntington Drive, Johnson said.

"With the witness' help, the suspect was located in San Marino," the police sergeant said. "As the officers approached, the suspect made furtive movements toward his waistband."

An officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect fled on foot. He was caught at San Marino High School, 2701 Huntington Drive, about 6:35 a.m., Johnson said.

The condition of the suspect was not immediately known.
