1. Order a martini at a restaurant

Hard liquor has not been served at San Marino restaurants since the 1950s. In an effort to attract high-end eateries, the City Council amended its alcohol code in November to allow two restaurants to apply for hard liquor licenses, but no restaurants are serving hard alcohol yet.

2. Live in an apartment

No apartments exist in San Marino, due to the way the city is zoned.

3. Order a Big Mac

You won’t find a McDonald’s, Burger King or any other fast food restaurant in San Marino, due to zoning.

4. Park a car in a front yard driveway or parking space for more than 2 consecutive days.

This applies to homes in the R-1 zone of the city, according to City code 23.02.03 section C item 2.

5. Hold more than one garage or estate sale a year at your home.

This applies to homes in the R-1 zone. Also, the sale must be held in the backyard, cannot exceed two consecutive days and only one sign promoting the sale is allowed in the front yard.
