Caltrans Report Analyzes Sales of Homes Along 710

The independent report states that selling the homes is the worst financial choice for the state.

An independent cost analysis report by Caltrans states that selling the agency-owned homes along the 710 Freeways is the least sound financial choice for the state, instead suggesting that the answer could lie within a Joint Powers Authority among South Pasadena, its neighbor to the north, Pasadena, and Los Angeles, according to an recent story in the Pasadena Star-News.

The report follows an August audit that accused Caltrans of poor management and spending too much on the houses along the 710, the Star-News reports.

Though there are no 710 homes in San Marino, the City Council has shown interest in the project, voting to support the tunnel extension in September.
