Dense Fog Likely to Delay Election Results

Weather conditions are forcing helicopters carrying ballots to be diverted.

Dense fog over the Los Angeles area Tuesday night is likely to delay election results reporting, according to a statement from the county.

The fog is forcing helicopters carrying ballots to the county office to divert to the Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry, the statement from the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk says.

Due to dense fog, helicopters transporting voted ballots have been diverted to the Puente Hills Mall in the City of  Industry. Ground transport has not been affected. This may result in the delay of election reporting for some areas of the county.

The Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Dean Logan issued a statement saying, "It is important that we get all of the ballots here to the Norwalk office safely and securely. We are working with the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department to ensure the safe arrival of the ballots."

The mission of the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is to serve Los Angeles County by providing essential records  management and election services in a fair, accessible and transparent manner. For more information, visit www.lavote.net.
