Updated: Huntington Renovations Public Comment Period Extended

The public now has until July 2 submit comment on the draft environmental impact report for significant proposed renovations to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.

Updated May 1: The Planning Commission Hearing to receive public comment has been pushed back to June 18 but the last day for public written comment is July 2.

Almost a year after the announced extensive , contractor PCR Services released a lengthy draft environmental impact report in April that details effects of the proposed plans and the City called for public input.

The deadline for public input was originally May 17 and a meeting was to be held at on May 7 for public input but that meeting has been rescheduled to extend the comment period.

The public meeting will now take place June 18 at 7 p.m. at the Auditorium and the deadline for public comment on the draft environmental impact report is July 2.

  • Possible effects of the plans on aesthetics, traffic, air quality, cultural resources, greenhouse gas emissions, land use and noise
  • Alternatives to the proposed plans
  • A traffic and parking report

Proposed Plans

At a , the Huntington and PCR Services—a contractor hired by the to make an impartial analysis—first presented the proposed renovations to residents, many of whom were wary of its effects on traffic, parking, noise and other aspects.
