Updated: City Prohibits Green Waste, Debris at Cleaned Curbs

The City of San Marino has ended the grace period for residents to place green waste and trash bags at curbs and parkways that have already been cleared, it announced Tuesday. See the alternative ways to get rid of your debris.

In order to facilitate cleanup in the wake of the , the City of San Marino has stopped allowing residents who have already had debris picked up by the city to continue to place their green waste or debris as is or in a trash bag at the curb.

"We have had instances where we have completely cleared a street and more debris is placed on the curb the next day," the City said in a robocall and email message sent at 5 p.m. Tuesday. "If this continues, it will take a very long time to return our city to its beautiful state."

The City suggests the two usual ways to dispose of your green waste and debris:

  • Have your gardeners and tree trimmers remove the waste they generate. 
  • Dispose of this waste through your normal trash pick-up.

The City advises that if you happen to see people illegally dumping debris in the street, to call the Police Department at 300-0720.

A community cleanup day is scheduled at Lacy Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lacy Park has been closed since the windstorm for cleanup.
