Lacy Park to Reopen Christmas Day

After December's tumultuous windstorm forced the park to close for over two weeks, the city finally announced its plans to reopen Lacy Park.

The San Gabriel Valley's turbulent winds forced to , but thanks to the clean-up efforts of locals the park is currently set to reopen on Christmas Day.

According to a San Marino Police Department press release, park use will be restricted to the inner loop and access will be limited to the Virginia Gate entrance. Tennis courts will also remain open.

Locals banded together on Saturday, Dec. 17 for the . Families filled wheelbarrows with leaves and packed green waste into bins.

The City has cleared approximately 85 percent of its streets and has collected 300 tons of debris. , while the city's property damange--both public and private--is estimated at $5.6 million.



City staff expects San Marino to be completely cleared of debris by Dec. 31.

To ensure that all exisiting debris are hauled away, SMPD asks that residents do not put any more green waste or trash bags on the curb or in the parkway. Please contact the Police Department at (626)300-0720 if you see anyone illegaly dumping debris in the street.
