Local Congresswoman Chu Speaks on State of the Union Address

Congressional Representative Judy Chu, D-Monterey Park, who will run in the San Gabriel Valley's new proposed 27th Congressional District, spoke to C-SPAN about her support of President Obama's emphasis on green energy in his State of the Union.

After Rep. Judy Chu (D-Monterey Park) was seen as the first person to stand when President Barack Obama mentioned green energy in his State of the Union address Tuesday, Chu reflected on why she supported green energy and how it could help California.

"We are a state that could certainly benefit from the investment in clean energy," Chu told C-SPAN, adding that California could use more emphasis on being a cutting edge state.

Chu also reflected on seeing Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona), who officially resigned from Congress Wednesday to focus on her recovery after being shot in the head at a public event last January.
