San Marino Recognized for Water Conservation

The Toro Company presented an award to the city of San Marino Wednesday for reducing its water use.

A representative from The Toro Company, a provider of turf and landscape maintenance equipment and irrigation solutions, awarded San Marino's water conservation efforts at Wednesday's .

San Marino Planning and Building Department Environmental Services Manager Ron Serven, San Marino Assistant City Manager Cindy Collins and the San Marino City Council were specifically recognized for their "concern for the environment in regards to water".

The Toro representative mentioned the 20x2020 Water Conservation Plan, a plan to reduce per capita water use statewide by 20 percent by the year 2020. Governor Schwarzeneggar presented the plan to the California State Senate in 2008, during his time in office, and the plan was finalized in 2010.

San Marino's water reduction was "in the range of 40 percent" less per capita, according to Toro.

Three cities in all received a Toro water conservation award; Culver City and Simi Valley were the other two cities recognized.
