Assemblyman Eng Endorses School Board Member Chau for State Assembly

Another local elected official has thrown his hat into the ring to represent the newly drawn 49th District.

District in the State Assembly and will be termed out come 2012, endorsed San Gabriel Valley elected official Edwin "Ed" Chau to represent the newly drawn 49th District, according to a statement released last Tuesday.

to include the cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City, and portions of El Monte, Montebello, South El Monte and the unincorporated community of South San Gabriel.

"He is a very proven elected official and I will work very hard for him," Chu said, according to Alhambra Source.

Chau has served on the Montebello Unified School District Board of Education for the past 12 years, winning four consecutive elections, according to the statement. He has also been the founding attorney for his law firm for the past 17 years and has served as a Judge Pro Tem for the LA Superior Court for the past 10 years.

In Montebello, Chau was also a member of the Budget Committee, the Investment Committee, the Traffic and Safety Commission and the Civil Service Commission.

Chau faces El Monte Union High School board member John Tran, Alhambra Mayor Luis Ayala and likely Monterey Park Councilman Mitchell Ing, reported Alhambra Source.
