New Programs, School Improvements to be Discussed at School Board Meeting
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Various projects ranging from transitional kindergarten to updating antiquated technology at San Marino High School are among the items up for discussion for Tuesday evening's meeting of the San Marino Unified School District's Board of Education meeting. Here are some talking points:
- The board plans to offer a transitional kindergarten program for kids who aren't old enough yet for kindergarten. The program's aim is to prepare those kids for kindergarten by developing the "academic, social and emotional skills they need."
- Any school-connected organization that wants to raise money for any student group in the district will need to run it by the board every year via a request for authorization. According to the proposal, "the Superintendent or designee shall establish appropriate internal controls for the relationship between school-connected organizations and the District."
- According to the meeting agenda, the dimmer systems in the San Marino High School Auditorium aren't up to par: they are "outdated, irreparable in their current state, and are in need of replacement in order to service the High School's production needs." The cost of the project will be north of $130,000.
