San Marino Unified Board to Vote on Superintendent Salary Increase

The SMUSD board will be deciding whether or not to give Kleinrock a raise a year before his contract expires at Tuesday night's meeting.

The San Marino Unified School Board will vote on its Tuesday night meeting whether or not to grant a salary increase to district superintendent Loren Kleinrock.

If approved, Kleinrock will be paid $204,024 for the 2013-2014 school year, according to the staff report.  He was paid approximately $192,000 with a car allowance in 2012-13 according to a salary comparison study done by the La Canada Unified School District.

Kleinrock is under contract at hus current salary rate through June 30, 2014 so the salary increase requires a vote by the board, according to the district staff report.

The district will also be considering the 2013-14  district budget at Tuesday night's meeting, which projects the district will run about a $3 million deficit.  If approved, the board would cover the deficit with a transfer from its reserve fund.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the San Marino Unified headquarters at 1665 West Drive.
