SMHS Ranked by U.S. News and World Report

SMHS ranked 30th among U.S. high schools in U.S. News and World Report's first-ever ranking for the best high schools for math and science.

In U.S. News and World Report’s first-ever rankings for the best high schools for math and science, San Marino High School ranked 30th out of almost 22,000 high schools across the U.S., the announced Wednesday.

Rankings were based on Advanced Placement (AP) math and science tests and the principle that “students at the top high schools for math and science must take and pass a robust curriculum of college-level math and science STEM [science, technology, engineering and math] courses.”

Better scores on a math and science achievement index—based on the amount of students at each school taking and passing college-level math and science courses—equated with higher rankings.
