Teacher Appreciation Week: Share Your Teacher Stories

As San Marino joins other districts in celebrating teachers, tell us what teachers have made a difference in your life or your child’s life.

The Board of Education is set to adopt a resolution Tuesday proclaiming this week as Teachers Appreciation Week.

Though the resolution will not be officially signed until Tuesday night’s regular Board of Education meeting, Teachers Appreciation Week runs from Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11.

A proclamation of May 9 as California Day of the Teacher is also on the Board of Education agenda.

In the spirit of appreciation, tell us: What teachers have made a difference in your life or your child’s life and why? It could be a teacher who finds creative ways to teach certain subjects or a teacher who has taken time to give extra help or encouragement. We all know at least one teacher who we appreciate, so share your thoughts in the comment box below.

For inspiration, you can check out this previous Patch blog post by San Marino parent and business owner Paul Argueta, who reflected on his child’s teachers at Carver and what teacher he appreciated most growing up.

I really stink at math. When the check comes at the end of the meal, I let others divi it up and I just throw in what's asked. My 4th grade teacher told me I had a mental block toward math. Pretty sure that didn't help. In 9th grade, Mr. Hill taught me Algebra in such a way that was understandable AND fun. I got my first and only A- ever in math. Thank you, Mr. Hill. Because of you I was not a "lost ball in high weeds.'' RIP
