Each week San Marino Patch names a Whiz Kid of the Week. This can be a kid, teen, sports team, Girl Scout troop, etc. from San Marino who is amazing in some way.

We are asking for your nominations for Whiz Kid of the Week, so suggest a special San Marino kid, teen or group.

This week's Whiz Kid is Allison Chiang, an amazing flutist and member of the San Gabriel Valley Childrens Chorus, advanced level. She's also quite the philanthropist and constantly seeks to engage herself in the community.

Allison Chiang is deeply involved in the United Charity Foundation Youth Leadership Council, is a member of the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra as a flutist, is a member of the San Gabriel Valley Childrens Chorus (advanced level), plays piano, runs cross country and dances.

Whiz Kid's Awesomeness:

The key to Allison's awesomeness is her passion for helping others. She constantly seeks to involve herself with improving not only her community, but the world in general. As an active member of the United Charity Foundation's Youth Leadership Council, Allison was a part of a toy drive project for Five Acres, raising close to $3,000 dollars in record time to help purchase supplies for foster family training. Allison's belief that families should always stay together drives her passion for volunteering to help create strong homes.

Her charity work for Five Acres also includes organizing concerts and putting on performances for the children. Allison believes that education is the first and foremost method in creating healthy homes. Coming from a wonderfully supportive and loving family herself, Allison wishes to give others the same opportunities she had: "I just want the children to be happy."
