Whiz Kid of the Week: Allen Zhao (VIDEO)

This week's Whiz Kid is Allen Yang Zhao. Allen is an extremly multi-talented individual with a strong sense of focus and discipline. Aside from winning the Monterey Park talent show, China Town talent show, and the talent show, Allen is a prime example of a true martial artist that believes not only in the honing of the body and mind, but the sanctity in choosing not to fight.  Allen's parents Fengling Xiao and Dizi Zhao are very supportive of his talents. Join us this week where we celebrate the accomplishments of an invividual who packs quite a punch.

• Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Allen Zhao won the Monterey Park talent show, China town talent show, and the San Marino High School talent show.
• Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: The key to Allen Zhao’s awesomeness is his incredibly diverse set of talents.  He’s a firm believer in honing both the body and the mind--an ideal exemplified in his musical performance and martial arts studies. Allen attained the rank of 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. What’s more amazing about Allen, however, is the fact he doesn’t just focus on himself, but giving back to community that has supported him through his martial arts studies.  On March 2, 2011, Allen worked as a referee for the 15th Tae Kwon Do Golden State Opening. Allen’s musical talents are equally as fascinating as his Tae Kwon Do career. Most recently, he performed an act with the Chinese bamboo flute, while spinning a hula hoop and balancing a glass vase simultaneously. Talk about multi-tasking! From nursing homes to church, the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival to the election party of Judy Chu – Congresswoman of the 32nd District California – Allen’s talents have been well-received by many. He even received the first place prize in the Monterey Park and China Town talent show two years in a row.
