Whiz Kid Arianna French Takes on Bullies

This week’s Whiz Kid is Arianna French. Arianna first attended only to move on to where she is currently an eighth grader. Arianna thoroughly enjoys the athletic, academic, and art programs that are offered in the San Marino School District. She also enjoys singing, playing softball, and is a suprisingly good baker. Her younger sister Alexis is a sixth grader at Huntington Middle School, her mother Diane Comi is an attorney, and her father Bob French is a Senior Manager at an aeronautical engineering field.

•  Whiz Kid's School: Huntington Middle School
•  Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Arianna is the founding member and president of the Huntington Middle School’s Zip-it Club, which was formed to address bullying and teasing faced by HMS Students. She has been involved for the past three years as a member and ranking officer of the Model United Nations/Youth in Government program. She won the oratorical contest and will be addressing her fellow 8th graders at their graduation ceremony on Wednesday.
• Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: The key to Arianna’s awesomeness is her drive to improve not only herself, but the world around her. From her involvement in the Model United Nations to her leadership of the Zip-it Club, Arianna’s ability to remain grounded, objective, and logical in her decision making is what makes her such a strong young woman. Arianna is an avid reader and between being buried in books and taking part in on-campus advocacy against student-on-student harassment, Arianna’s active personality and analytical mind is what allows her to draw from her broad information base when making decisions. Her loyalty to her friends and her belief in the power of justice in everyday life make her such a strong and dependable individual. In a day and age where the generations that follow us face new and evolving challenges, being analytical and rational is essential and Arianna has the quality in spades.
