Guide to July 4th 2012 in San Marino

Find out where San Marino's July 4th parade will be, where to see fireworks, and if there's still room to register for a morning 5K run.

Independence Day is around the corner and this year, it’s more than just our nation’s birthday. It’s also the official kick-off to San Marino’s Centennial Celebration! San Marino will turn 100 on April 25, 2013, but celebrations will start on July 4th.

Here’s what to expect tomorrow:

JP Blecksmith Memorial 5K

Start your Independence Day off by running a brisk 5k… or simply attend to cheer on your friends and neighbors. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at the northwest corner of Huntington Dr. and San Marino Ave. Online registration is currently closed, but interested runners can still register on July 4th between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Got questions? Centennial Parade

A patriotic parade featuring classic and muscle cars, floats, bikes and more will start at 4:00 p.m. The parade will start at 1427 San Marino Ave. and march west on Monterey Rd. to Virginia Rd. Then, the parade will continue up into Lacy Park.

Centennial Picnic and Fireworks

After the parade ends, residents are invited to picnic in Lacy Park. A fireworks show will commence just after dusk.

VIP Event at Lacy Park

A special Centennial kick-off celebration invites residents to socialize at “Vino e Birra Alfresco,” a VIP-only event in a special pavilion at Lacy Park. The RSVP list is already full, so if your heart is set on going, try asking a friend if they have an extra ticket.

Historic San Marino Photo Exhibit

The San Marino Historical Society presents a historical photo exhibit at the Crain Art Gallery and the Crowell Public Library. The exhibit starts on July 4 and runs through August 31.

Lacy Park is located at 1485 Virginia Rd.

The Crowell Public Library is located at 1890 Huntington Dr.
