Live from Pasadena! A new morning show prepares for launch

Get ready for a new wake-up call, Pasadena!

A new morning television program called CCN Sunrise, Live from Pasadena! is launching in January 2014. The program, aired by Crown City News -- a local television station and online news source -- will cover Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley.

CCN Sunrise, co-hosted by Paulo Alejandria and Sehnita Joshua Mattison, will air from 7 to 8 a.m. each morning.

“There are plenty of morning shows to watch on TV, but none of them focus specifically on the people and neighborhoods within Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley that make this area a great place to live, work and play. CCN Sunrise is the area's only live, local, daily, TV morning show produced right here in Pasadena,”  Mattison said.

That philosophy of live, work and play lines up well with my own philosophy about how best to serve my real estate clients. As a result, Mattison invited me to show her how to stage a home for a future segment.

Crown City News already airs a weekly, 30-minute TV newscast on the Pasadena Community Network at 6 p.m. weeknights and provides online news of local interest. It has covered events of local importance to the community, as well, such as the Pasadena Marathon, extensive reporting during the December 2011 windstorms that caused millions of dollars in damage and more.

CCN Sunrise will feature news and interviews, just as CCN’s evening newscasts do, but will have a few fun tidbits such as the staging tidbit to keep it light and to highlight local voices in Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley.

“The format for the morning show is different,” Mattison said. “It will still feature news, weather and sports, but it will also include fun, family-friendly programming that helps connect viewers to their community and get excited about what the area has to offer. We'll also feature segments on food, money and markets, art exhibits, musical guests real estate, education, and more. The audience will always leave our show with information that can help them in their day-to-day lives. “

CCN has begun to publicize its upcoming show with promotional videos, such as the one featured with this post. Tami DeVine, CCN Sunrise creator and President/CEO of Crown City Media and the International Media Training Center, and crew are also working on a documentary series called “The Dawn of Sunrise” that chronicles their efforts to launch the new show.

The show’s hosts will interview local community leaders and newsmakers in arts, business, politics and more as part of every show.  "We want the community to get involved with us because this show is for them and about them,” Mattison said.

“This area is rich in it's diversity of people involved in the community who want to be heard.  We're here to give them platform to let their voice be heard,” Mattison said. CCN Sunrise will also benefit the local community by providing employment and career development opportunities, broadcast training for youth and adults, and volunteer opportunities for residents who want to contribute to their community.

CCN Sunrise will air on Arroyo Channel 32 in Pasadena and AT&T Uverse Channel 99.  It will also stream live and on-demand on the Web and post videos on our website and social media sites, including their Facebook site.

Residents who want to learn more or contribute story ideas may contact Tami DeVine at 626-676-9403 or send her an email at tami@crowncitynews.com.

As someone who fully embraces Pasadena as a great place to live, work and play, I hope to work with Sehnita Mattison and the CCN Sunrise team again soon, and I am certain Pasadena will benefit from having its own local morning show to highlight community people and resources.
