Architectural influences range from the prevalent Craftsman-era homes of the Pasadena area to Spanish colonial, Monterey and Mediterranean styles. You will find many of these more global influences by taking a drive north of the Huntington estate grounds.

Moving to San Marino CA: The demographics

In San Marino, you’ll find a sizeable Asian population. More than 50 percent o the residents are Asian, and more than 70 percent are college-educated, based on the latest Census numbers available.

The median household income in this affluent community was recorded as $154,963 from 2006 to 2010. Because San Marino was developed as bedroom community, many of its residents commute to jobs in nearby cities. The average commute time is about 25 minutes.

In San Marino, you’ll find service-related employers such as bankers, dentists, real estate agents and lawyers, for example. The food industry is also thriving there. Two commerce districts – Mission District and downtown – are home to a selection of shops.

Moving to San Marino CA: The amenities

You will find a number of attractions in San Marino, but one of its most prestigious is The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Gardens. The Huntington was founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington. During his life, he compiled the beginning of one of the finest research libraries in the world, as well as a significant art collection and an array of botanical gardens.

The El Molino Viejo built in 1816 is open to the public and serves as an art gallery.

Lacy Park, a 30-acre park in the center of San Marino, has been a highlight for families. A picnic area is often the site of musical concerts and civic events. If golfing is your favorite pastime, the nearby San Gabriel Country Club is available for tee time.

Lacy Park includes six championship tennis courts and a pro shop. At the west entrance of the park is the 60-year-old Rose Arbor.
