Patch Blog: Oprah Winfrey Network Star Enjoys Time Off at Jasmine Cafe

She was given a once in a lifetime chance to show Oprah Winfrey what she can do...and WON her own cooking show "The Ambush Cook" at the OWN premiering December 3, 2011.

Kristina and Philip, the first couple, hosted their wedding dinner rehearsal at our then newly-opened in 2008 and became our family of regular customers. They continue their patronage at Jasmine Cafe today.

I remember when my partner Earlene texted me that she heard on the news that Kristina had become one of the top 10 candidates for The Oprah Winfrey Network's nationwide search for the next celebrity host. We were both very excited for her.  When she actually won, Earlene texted me again and we were both ecstatic and screaming.

Kristina lives a very passionate life with a smile on her face. She loves her family, cares for her friends and is full of energy and vitality.

Kristina told me her show will be premiering on December 3. One of the dishes will be "Mongolian Beef".  I told her we should have a cooking party/cook-off with family and friends at Jasmine Cafe kitchen that features that dish and others. Should be fun; stay tuned!

(Maybe Earlene will share her chocolate chip cookie recipe that she made for Kristina & Phillip at their rehearsal dinner?)

Not only is Kristina passionate and energetic, she is truly an all-around amazing person. On her last visit, Kristina came in with her children, Luka and Matea, and their grandparents. She told me, "I am still very, very close with my ex-husband's parents. They live in Fresno, so when they came down for a visit this past weekend, they asked Philip and I to join them for dinner." This is just one of countless examples of what an awesome person she is.

I recently watched the trailer of Kristina's show; it looks fun, entertaining, and has a style of enthusiasm with a flair of creativity that is very inspiring. Just like she says in her trailer, Kristina wants to "empower" the guests and the viewer: cooking is simple, easy, and you can do it on your own!
