Good points Sharon. As a mother of 5 daughters and now 2 grandchildren, latest to Rylee who just…Read More spent 8 days in the Nicu, there is alot of cautions to take with your newborns.
There are also these awesome monitors to buy at Walmart, Target, Babies are US that monitor not only noises from your newborn but movement. So if your baby does not have respirations for 20 seconds a alarm goes off.
My daughter got this for Rylee who is coming home today we HOPE!! as a precaution as she did have a few episodes of forgetting to catch her next breath. Even though she caught herself we are going to stay safe with the monitor.
She was born 5 weeks early and just had this little glitch that has not happened again :) Every parent can afford one of these monitors that range in price from 55 to 117 dollars depending on how many out of room alert boxes you want.
As you also say Sharon, so many babies are left to fall down in between couch cushions, rocking chairs, and cribs full of "stuff". Its just not needed, just the nice clean sheets in the crib or bassinet.

2) Local governments, when denying written requests for public records, will no…Read More longer be required to give a reason for the denial. SB 71 purports to make that common sense requirement (found in Gov Code sec. 6255(b)) completely optional. What does optional mean? You can be sure that all lawyers for cities, counties or school boards, once they become aware of this change, will advise their clients to give no reasons for denying records.

While many infectious diseases were once all but eliminated from the United States, there's evidence…Read More that climate change is a factor that could help them expand their range and make a comeback.
http://www.nrdc.org/health/climate/disease.asp
The increases in heat, precipitation, and humidity can allow tropical and subtropical insects to move from regions where infectious diseases thrive into new places. This, coupled with increased international travel to and from all 50 states, means that the U.S. is increasingly at risk for becoming home to these new diseases.

Could we get further explanation on the 80% who show no symptoms. Does that mean they are infected…Read More but will never manifest symptoms and have some type of natural immunity, or is it just currently dormant and they will eventually manifest symptoms? Also once they have it, can it be transmitted in the blood (i.e. if they are blood donors)?

Don, "Most men are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Abraham Lincoln, and…Read More Will Rogers.
When you combine that with how we project what we think the world is,....well, it is all in our minds.
We are products of our sub-conscious. I read the basic early book on it many years ago, "The power of your subconscious mind", by Joseph Murphy. I read the book three time in a row, and began the process of changing my brain pattern to a very positive outlook. In all honesty, I was in the middle of changing things at that time and was ready for the info then.
Almost no one changes their actual thought process and types of habits. Some ingrained from infancy, I am still working on.
Sometimes I think of the girl who was the inspiration for the movie "homeless to Harvard" She said that all she did was, "everyday there are options, I just decided to do the right one everyday."
Also, will smith in the based on a true story,"The pursuit of happiness" He went from homeless to multi-millionaire.
Without the state of mind to change, they would have to win the lottery, and those odds are next to zero.
