So what's to follow? Another bank? Just what San Marino needs.

Don’t go inside. Really. I had been to Fancy That often. Now they are closing. At first,Read More I was puzzled to hear the news, butI think I learned the reason why they are closing today. I had purchased something at their sale, and found a small defect. Since I was going back to the store to check out the new merchandise, I took the item with me, to see if they might exchange it as they had another just like it in stock. This time, I dealt with a behemoth of a woman, instead of the friendly man I had met in the past. I asked my question, and she explained her “no exchange policy.” I just asked again, but didn’t press, as she reaffirmed that they would not accept exchanges. In fact, she literally yanked the unblemished item out of my hands, saying something about, “and I’m the one going out of business.” I decided to leave. I had intended to shop more originally. I stopped by table by the door, when she decided to follow me, coming out from behind her counter. She stood in front of me, starting to exclaim in front of other customers and employees, “How do I know you didn’t damage that?” I was very surprised. After all, I was clearly a paying customer, as I had an object I had just purchased. Now I’m sure I know why they are closing. I can only say, good riddance, and the neighborhood is better off without you in it.

Yes, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. True class is elegant and gracious manners,Read More not a zip code.

The number of food related hospitalizations and deaths in L.A. County dropped signicantly after theRead More posting system was implemented. Too bad our S.M. city council saw fit to deny us the convenience of posting the grades on the door which every other resident of the county enjoys. Pasadena and a couple of other cities have their own health departments, inspectors, and posting rules. I regularly check the inspection reports of the restaurants and grocery stores which I patronize. All of them are required to allow customers who ask to see a copy of the report on the premises.

I reserve one of the pits and put it in the guacamole when storing it. I don't know why, but it hasRead More delayed the guacamole from browing longer than without. As Brenda shared, it is very important to eliminate any air in the storage of guacamole as well.

This is disgusting. Do the Powers That Be want people to spend money to keep the economy going, orRead More not?
B.K. Holthaus September 15, 2012 at 12:10 pm
Apparently "not", Jill :( It seems if they can find a new way to squeeze the last dimeRead More out of the middle class, they will.

funny. may I remind people that the powers that be are the people? 'the limits of tyrants areRead More defined by the endurance of those they oppress.' (-fd). regardless, we have an initiative process in this state; for better or for worse. if anyone bothered to look at the graphs in some of the 'reports' linked to above they might have noticed a 25% decrease in general fund income tax burden in our state in the past decade. not much 'squeezing' going on there. add to that the 'offshoring' of our sales tax burden by online buying'. CA has the eighth largest economy in the world. Yes the world. Somehow all this anti-business and depressive tax policy hasnt prohibited that from happening. And CA has essentially the worst-funded and worst-staffed public education system in the nation (anyone who is looking for a definition of disgusting needed look much further than that). That should REALLY bother anyone who truly cares about our economy.
